A leading Outdoor Networking Equipment Provider approached MEAN WELL with a specific set of challenges. The power supply they were using fell short of meeting the requirements of outdoor applications.

The primary concerns were related to the cable length design, both on the input and output sides. Sourcing power cables with lengths that precisely meet the requirements of the outdoor networking setup. Consider factors such as the distance between the power source and the networking equipment. Moreover, Connector interface should be rugged, weatherproof, and easy secure connections in outdoor environments as well as resistant to environmental factors like moisture, dust, and temperature variations.

POWER SOLUTION:
MEAN WELL swiftly initiated the customization process. The first challenge was to extend both the input and output cable lengths to ensure optimal flexibility in installation. MEAN WELL's engineering team collaborated closely with the customer to determine the ideal cable lengths based on the unique specifications of the outdoor networking application.
Next, MEAN WELL focused on enhancing the ease of connection by adding a special output connector. This connector simplifies the integration process, allowing for a seamless connection with other components of the networking equipment. The customization also involved ensuring that the modified power supply unit complied with industry standards and safety regulations.
Ensure that the power supply is designed for harsh environments, so the MEAN WELL FAE engineer recommended the HEP series. It comes with IP68 rating and dustproof protection, a sturdy 10G anti-vibration capability, fanless design, and an aluminum extruded case for efficient conduction cooling. This power supply series is ideal for Outdoor Industrial and Telecommunication equipment.
