Application: Servo Motors for Vitro Diagnostic Analyzer
Power Solution: BIC-2200 Series
CUSTOMER PAIN POINTS:
A Vitro Diagnostic Analyzer Leader in Life Science Industry was actively sourcing alternative power supply to avoid production line down caused by Covid-19, shortage, or quality issues etc... Also, the power supply is used to drive multiple Servo Motors that generate back EMF (Electromotive Force), which often forces the power supply into Overvoltage Protect. Therefore, the customer was not only dealing with supply chain disruption but also needed a solution for the Servo Motor’s back EMF.
POWER SOLUTION:
There are various solutions to resolve back EMF such as adding external Regeneration clamp device or snubber clamp circuit, but these solutions increased overall cost and required time to validate. MEAN WELL offered the Bi-Directional BIC-2200 power supply to solve the back EMF. The BIC-2200 can not only operate as an AC-to-DC converter supplying power to applications but also functions as an DC-to-AC inverter cycling DC power back to the Grid. Taking advantage of the BIC-2200 automatically inverting function, the BIC-2200 was able to cycle the Servo Motor’s back EMF to the Grid while supplying power to the Servo Motor during normal operation. The customer admired the BIC-2200 solution because it’s All-in-One that saved the overall cost and time. Moreover, MEAN WELL offered 30-day production lead time post-pandemic ear that fulfills the Customer demands.
CONCLUSION:
MEAN WELL’s BIC-2200 power supply ability to absorb motor back EMF provides a unique solution to the Vitro Diagnostic Analyzer. This case demonstrates MEAN WELL’s commitment to be a Solution Provider not only in term of Technical but also stable production lead-time to ensure customer satisfactory.
